Ex-DFB boss Wolfgang Niersbach: marriage after one year
It was his wife’s wish, said the 74-year-old about the end of the relationship with Marion Popp. Niersbach and the entrepreneur have been a couple for many years before the wedding 2023.
Former DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach and his wife Marion Popp have separated. The 74-year-old confirmed the German press agency a corresponding report by the “Bild”. Niersbach and the entrepreneur have been a couple since 2014 and had married in October 2023.
Niersbach: “I am very sorry for the end of our marriage”
A little more than a year later there was a break. “We have been separated since December 2024,” said Niersbach the “Bild”. It was his wife’s wish that she had moved out. “I am very sorry for the end of our marriage. He currently does not think of a new relationship.
The football official was president of the German Football Association from 2012 to 2015. Previously, Niersbach worked as a media director and general secretary for the football association.
