Sadio Mane is one of the biggest stars at Liverpool FC. FC Bayern, on the other hand, let the Senegalese escape twice.
FC Bayern Munich has apparently missed the opportunity to sign today’s Liverpool star Sadio Mane twice.
Mane and Bayern first crossed paths in January 2014 when Mane, then still in a Red Bull Salzburg jersey, scored a goal against Bayern Munich in a friendly. Salzburg won 3-0 – also thanks to a furious Mane.
Advisor wonders about Bavaria’s decision
“Sadio played outstandingly and I was sure that Bayern would get in touch now. That was so obvious,” recalled his advisor, Björn Bezemer, in the image.
But the record champions didn’t get in touch, which “really surprised” Bezemer. The following summer.
When the Senegalese came up trumps again on the English south coast, there was contact with Munich. “But nothing concrete came about there either,” said Bezemer.
Instead, Mane switched to Liverpool FC for 40 million euros and matured there into a world-class player who recently won the Africa Cup with Senegal.
