The man from Salzburg took first and second place in the first two of three rounds with jumps of 129 and 133 m before he ended his working day prematurely. Second on the normal hill, Manuel Fettner, skipped the training completely. In addition to these two, Daniel Huber and Jan Hörl were lined up for the Saturday competition.
Huber from Salzburg came on 124.5 (13th), 126 (12th) and 125 m (7th), his closer compatriot Hörl on 121.5 (16th), 127.5 (11th) and 126 m ( 4.). Carinthian Daniel Tschofenig, who was not nominated again, landed at 125.5 (17th), 123 (16th) and 120.5 m (26th). Best in rounds two and three was Marius Lindvik (NOR) with 134 m and 134.5 m respectively. His compatriot Daniel Andre Tande and the Slovenians were also strong. Normal hill winner Ryoyu Kobayashi also gave up completely.
The qualification is scheduled for Friday, the competition for Saturday (both 12:00 p.m. CET). New energy in the days after the normal hill competitions was fueled in different ways. Kraft had the little free time after the mixed on Tuesday for a trip to the parallel boarders, Huber pushed in strength training, among other things, and Fettner had his motivation boost with the award ceremony and the presentation of his silver medal.
“It was a perfect day”
“It was fantastic, we saw two medals, it was a perfect day,” Kraft said, looking back on the trip to Secret Garden, where Benjamin Karl took parallel gold and Daniela Ulbing silver. “It was really exciting because the races were close. Almost all races, including the quarter-finals and semi-finals.” The man from Salzburg and his companions like Fettner also had a nice day. “It was perfect weather, we enjoyed the sun.”
On days when no ski jumps are used, there is a little more time to take in the surroundings. “It’s super organized, you feel very well protected. The locals, volunteers or employees are extremely protected. All day long in protective suits, with glasses and mask on,” said Huber and Kraft added: “I couldn’t even say whether they are Chinese or not. I feel very comfortable and everything works perfectly.”
The mixed process was less dazzling with five disqualifications for non-compliant jump suits – all on the women’s side. For the men, on the other hand, everything has gone smoothly so far and the two Salzburgers assume that it will stay that way. “The controller has a clear line inside,” Kraft knew. “Of course you always have to be careful. It can happen that a suit is a centimeter too wide. You just have to choose the safe option.”
