The president of the FIFA, Gianni Infantinoissued an emotional statement for the surprise death of Pope Francis. “I had the privilege of sharing with him some moments on a couple of occasions, and he always transmitted his enthusiasm for football,” he recalled.
“The news of the death of Pope Francis sadly saddens me.the leader recalled with emotion.
“Earlier this year, during the world leaders’s summit for the rights of children in the Vatican, he reaffirmed their hope in football as a global union force and as a tool for good”said FIFA leader.
“I know how much it meant for the Catholic community as the leader of his church worldwide. Through his message of hope and peace, which he even shared yesterday, Sunday of Easter, gave the example. My sincere condolences to all those who met him, to his community, family and friends. All the prayers of the world of football are with him.
