Double winner at US Open
Tennis professional Purcell due to doping until mid -2026 blocked
A vitamin infusion brings Max Purcell a long lock. The Australian tennis player accepts his punishment.
The Australian tennis player Max Purcell, initially closed for doping, is no longer allowed to compete or visit tournaments by the middle of next year. As the responsible International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced, the 27 -year -old Purcell has accepted a lock that applies until June 11, 2026. The double winner at the US Open admitted last December that he had exceeded the permissible value in a vitamin infusion.
Overall, Purcell has to suspend 18 months. The time already served during its preliminary lock from December 12, 2024, which the professional had volunteered, is counted. Since he cooperated during the investigation, the punishment from 24 months was reduced to 18 months, the statement said.
Purcell had received infusions of over 500 milliliters between December 16 and 20, 2023. The limit according to the anti-doping rules is 100 milliliters within 12 hours. Purcell’s tournament results as well as prize money, which he achieved between December 16, 2023 and the first negative control test on February 3, 2024, will be revoked.
