Playoff-out: Wagner fails with Magic on the defending champion
For Franz Wagner with the Orlando Magic, the defending champion Boston comes out. Dennis Schröder and the Detroit Pistons, on the other hand, prevent exactly that in a competitive series.
Basketball world champion Franz Wagner was again eliminated with the Orlando Magic in the NBA’s first playoff round. The Florida team lost in game five with defending champion Boston Celtics clearly with 89: 120 (49:47). The Celtics prevailed 4: 1 in the best-of-Seven series.
The Magic led by Wagner at half time. But in the third quarter the Celtics pulled away when Orlando’s second star player, Paolo Banchero, was on the bench for a long time due to foul problems. Wagner also no longer hit in this phase. The 23-year-old Berliner was particularly lucky from the triple line as in the entire series.
In the end, the Celtics continuously expanded the lead with their experience, just four minutes before the end, Magic coach Jamahl Mosley took his two stars off the field.
The best thrower of the game was Boston’s Jayson Tatum with 35 points, he also booked ten assists and eight rebounds. Wagner was the best thrower at the Magic with 25 points, Banchero came up to 19 points.
Pistons prevent early on
In the next round, the Celtics meet the winner of the duel between the New York Knicks and Detroit Piston. The team of national team captain Dennis Schröder prevented an early on in the series. The pistons won game five at the Knicks with 106: 103 (49:50) and shortened to 2: 3 in the series.
In a close game, the guests from Detroit led over long distances of the game, even if they could never break away more than ten points. In contrast to the two narrowly lost home games before, the pistons brought the narrow lead over time this time. Cade Cunningham scored 24 points, Schröder contributed 14 points from the bank.
Game six are in Detroit, where the Pistons have not won a playoff home game since 2008.
Indiana Pacers are on
The Indiana Pacers, who prevailed 4-1 against the Milwaukee Bucks, are also 4-1 in the Eastern Conference. Game five went into the extension, in which the Pacers scored the last eight points and ended up with 119:118. Indiana meets the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second semi -finals in the east, who had overwhelmed Miami Heat 4-0 in her series.
