The master of sports in boxing and the star of the Top Dog fisticuffs league, Pavel Shulsky, in an interview with Izvestia on Friday, February 11, said that during the meeting of the Nigerian boxer Olanrewaju Durodola with the Russian fighter Magomed Ismailov, he would be rooting for the latter.
“It turned out to be a very interesting boxing fight. And Durodola is a very serious boxer. To be honest, Magomed Ismailov, as far as I know, is a mixed wrestler. He competes in MMA, he is not a boxer. Plus, Durodol is taller, Durodol has a height of about 1.9 m. Magomed has a height of 1.8 m, in my opinion, well, he is shorter, ”Shulsky notes.
According to him, for Durodola, a fight in the format of four rounds of three minutes is a common thing, while Ismailov came from MMA, which gives the advantage to the Nigerian.
“I have great respect for Magomed, he is a good fighter, in character. But, in my opinion, if Magomed does not hit him, then Durodola will win the battle. Magomed hits, but Magomed’s arms are shorter than those of Durodola. It will be hard for him to deliver his punch to the target, especially in boxing, here. Therefore, it will already be here, you know how lucky. But in terms of ratio, I think 70% for Durodol and 30% for Magomed,” Shulsky said.
At the same time, the athlete assured that he would root for Ismailov in the fight. However, according to Shulsky, a fighter can be let down by functional readiness and problems due to anthropometric data.
“If in the first rounds Magomed Ismailov cannot win by knockout, then in the future the boxer from Nigeria will beat him,” Shulsky emphasized.
He also drew attention to the fact that he did not quite understand why Ismailov, not being a boxer, agreed to this serious fight, which would be a very big test for him.
Earlier in the day, Russian boxer Grigory Drozd said that it would be difficult for Ismailov to fight according to the rules of boxing. Drozd recalled that the Russian is a good fighter, an MMA fighter, but definitely not a boxer.
In turn, two-time world champion in professional kickboxing Evgeny Orlov, speaking about the fight between Ismailov and Durodola, with all due respect to the Russian, noted that, of course, the latter would win. According to him, a checkers player can learn the basic rules of chess, but he is unlikely to be able to win a game of chess.
The fight will take place on February 25 as part of the REN TV Fight Night and will be the main event of the tournament. The fighters will fight according to the rules of boxing: they will have four rounds of three minutes each. As part of the evening, there will also be a meeting between the world boxing champion, junior police lieutenant Mark Petrovsky and Kenyan Collins Oyal, nicknamed the African Lion.
