Formula 1 racing team also changes a driver after team boss
The next turbulence at the Formula 1 racing team Alpine: Shortly after the change of team boss, one of the drivers will also be exchanged.
The Formula 1 team Alpine takes a driver’s exchange after just six seasonal races. The Argentine Franco Colapinto already replaces the Australian Jack Doohan in Imola, but initially only gets five Grand Prix to prove himself. “We realized that we have to rotate our driver’s line-up,” said Flavio Briatore, who has just taken on the role of team leader from the resigned Oliver Oakes.
Doohan is one of four previously pointless pilots in this Formula 1 season. The 22-year-old son of Australian motorcycle legend Mick Doohan has been under pressure for a long time because he also indebted several accidents. Briatore, who was previously chief advisor at Alpine, is said to have spoken internally for some time for a driver change and the previous substitute Colapinto.
Operations guarantee only for five races
The 21-year-old Colapinto was used for Williams in the second half of last season. He even got five points, but then didn’t get a cockpit. Now he is to be used for the first time at the Grand Prix of the Emilia-Romagna on the side of the second alpine master master Pierre Gasly.
He can also drive in Monaco, Spain, Canada and Austria. Before the race in the British Silverstone in early July, the racing team said that a re -evaluation will be made on the driver’s question. Until then, Doohan will be the first option as a reserve pilot and remain an important part of the team, Alpine assured. “Of course this chapter is hard for me,” said Doohan.
With the driver’s exchange, the turbulence at Alpine continues. After the largely disappointing start to the season, Oakes’ resignation was just known as team boss. The 75 -year -old Briatore, once a team boss of record world champion Michael Schumacher, took over the tasks of Oakes.
