Herzog has big plans for her favorite ice cream

The Carinthian speed skater worked four years towards the Olympic race over 500 meters on Sunday (2:56 p.m. CET) in Beijing after coming fourth at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang and missing a medal by just 0.17 seconds.

Two herniated discs threw the 26-year-old off track last year, but ultimately not from her Olympic plan. The medal is still the goal.

“I think it will be a slaughter of eight to ten people who can all win medals,” estimates her husband, manager and trainer Thomas Herzog. “Vanessa is there.” The American Erin Jackson and the Russian Angelina Golikova should perhaps be rated a little higher.

It is important that the back now holds. According to Herzog, he’s 95 to 99 percent fine. “That’s enough for a perfect race, and she will need that,” says Herzog.

The Herzogs are definitely expecting a very fast race. The conditions give confidence. “I love this ice cream here,” says the Carinthian.
