DEB optimistic: supporting World Cup participation is moving closer
The German national ice hockey team hopes more than ever for an NHL reinforcement. A decision will be expected shortly.
The participation of Germany’s NHL star Tim Stützle in the ice hockey World Cup in Herning in Danish is becoming more and more likely. “It will be decided tonight,” said Deb sports director Christian Künast at ProSieben. “It doesn’t look that bad, but we need patience and persistence. Let’s be surprised. I’m positive, but there is no final ‘yes’.”
A possible use in the opening game against Hungary on Saturday (4.20 p.m./ProSieben and Magenta Sport) and a day later against Kazakhstan is excluded. The top striker may be available for the Norway game against Switzerland for the Norway game on Tuesday or two days later. For the team of national coach Harold Kreis, a supporting participation would be a great reinforcement.
Struck according to the NHL playoffs
The striker left the NHL playoffs against Toronto with the Ottawa Senators last week, but reported on some injuries. The Canadian team will only give the 23-year-old approval if he is 100 percent fit.
