EM qualification
Handball player with Tor-Gala against Turkey
In the last European Championship qualification game, the German handball players deliver a concentrated performance, which ensures a good mood among fans and national coaches.
With a joy of playing the canteen victory: Germany’s handball players said goodbye to the long summer break for the national team with a peat festival. The team of national coach Alfred Gislason won against Turkey with 44:26 (21:11) and ended the qualification for the EM 2026 with 8: 2 points as an undefeated group winner.
In front of 6,149 spectators in Stuttgart, back room player Miro Schluroff was the best thrower at the Olympic second with six goals, who rehabilitated with the convincing performance for the weak appearance at the latest 32:32 in Switzerland.
The group draw for the final round from January 15th to February 1st next year will increase in Herning, Dänisch, where the ice hockey World Cup is taking place. It was only at the end of October that Gislason recalls his protégés at the start of the EM preparation.
Germany with a concentrated start
In contrast to last Wednesday in Zurich, the DHB selection was wide awake despite the lack of top goalkeeper Andreas Wolff and captain Johannes Golla from the start and made a lightning start. After only four minutes, Germany already led 5-0, which is why Turkish coach Oliver Camino took a first break at this early stage.
That didn’t change the course of the game. The German team dominated at will and was also able to rely on David Späth as a strong backing in the goal. In the attack, Miro Schluroff in particular proved to be a safe executor. The back room player from VfL Gummersbach scored five goals in the early quarter of an hour alone.
In view of the superiority of the DHB team, Gislason sent the newcomers Matthes Langhoff and Aron Seesing to their international debut in the middle of the first half. Both fell into German play seamlessly. Until the break, the World Cup sixth in all matters expanded its lead over ten goals.
DHB team with consistency and joy of playing
After the change, the German team did not give up and expanded the lead to 16 hits until the middle of the second half. The most striking actors in this phase were left wing Tim Freihofer from the Bundesliga heading leader Füchse Berlin and circuit runner Justus Fischer.
Although Gislason cheerfully changed, his protégés always held up the concentration and hardly made any mistakes. This ensured a good mood in the ranks and also with the national coach, who watched the performance in a relaxed manner on the sidelines. Even in the final phase, the German team did not subside and was rightly celebrated at the final whistle.
