Pergolini spoke about his time at Boca: “Football makes you feel like you’re from outside”

In an interview on FM Urbana, Pergolini pointed out that “there is a code in soccer people that does not look at someone who comes from outside as someone who comes to contribute. They are distrustful, they bully you, they cancher you until you more or less become strong. I didn’t get that, and it frustrated me a lot.”

About this, he warned that “if it had happened to me 20 years ago, more competitive, I would have stood up until they kicked me out. Here I saw that it was not going to happen. Soccer is very presidential, especially a club like Boca. If you say that you want to improve the technology to generate income from other sources, they answer you ‘This is Boca, we are going to win the Libertadores'”.

In addition, he stressed that “being the leader of Boca is like having a program with 48 rating points in the 1990s. There is no corner where someone does not appear to ask you for something, suggest you… He gives you an agenda that does not give you being president, suddenly you find yourself talking to the Emir of Qatar, and about personal things”.

“If I ask Jeff Bezos for a meeting, he doesn’t give it to me. But if he comes to Argentina, he most likely wants to go to the Boca court, and you spend five minutes with Jeff Bezos,” he compared.

At that point, Pergolini stated: “Boca made a president, without a doubt he made him president. We apologize to everyone… (laughs)”, referring to Mauricio Macri.

“It made me angry that the channel could not be carried out. You say ‘I want to work on the broadcasts’ and they answer ‘ah, that is going to be done by so-and-so, who is a friend …”, he confided, about his frustrated management .
