In the fall of 2015, Max Kruse forgot a lot of money in a taxi. Now the offensive player revealed some details about his faux pas from back then.
Max Kruse revealed details about the taxi ride in which the 33-year-old lost a lot of money in autumn 2015.
During his first spell at VfL Wolfsburg, he is reported to have lost around €75,000 after a long night out in Berlin. He had probably previously won the money in a poker tournament and then forgotten it in a taxi.
There was much speculation afterwards that ZDF sports studio classified Kruse the incident on Saturday. “It wasn’t a plastic bag, it was a backpack. It’s also gone, so you can add a thousand more,” the striker introduced and explained: “I left it in the trunk. I put it in and when getting out, half past six in the morning, I didn’t think about it anymore.”
Max Kruse: “We went to Berlin and wanted to celebrate”
Kruse had filed a complaint about theft that same night. However, the culprit was never found.
There was a simple reason why he had so much cash with him, Kruse said: “That evening we went to Berlin with a couple of guys and wanted to party. And before that, a round at the casino. I didn’t want all the money spend it, I even won, didn’t have that much cash with me beforehand. Then you had to take your backpack with you too. And we didn’t travel by car.”
In addition, Kruse explained his surprising return to Wolfsburg this winter. In addition to the financial aspect, his relationship with Union coach Urs Fischer was no longer so harmonious.
