PGA Championship: Scheffler with a golf gala to the top
On the third day of the PGA Championship in Charlotte, Scottie Scheffler shows his whole class. Does the world ranking first make his third major triumph perfect?
The Golf World Ranking list of Scottie Scheffler has the best chance of his third triumph at a major tournament in the PGA Championship. The superstar from the USA played the best round of the day in the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte in Charlotte and took the lead at the second major of the year. Scheffler had already won the traditional Masters in Augusta in 2022 and 2024.
Before the final round, the 28-year-old is now three strokes in front of the runner-up Sweden Alex Noren (205). Scheffler showed his whole class, especially on the heavy final holes of the demanding Par-71 Square in the US state of North Carolina. Paris’s Olympic champion ended the last five playways with five blows under Par.
McIlroy without chance for the title
The reigning Masters Champion Rory McIlroy, on the other hand, no longer plays for the tournament victory. The 36 -year -old Nordire is only on the divided 49th rank before the final with 215 strokes. The German Stephan Jäger fell back to the 63rd place after a weak 76 round with 218 strokes. The LIV golfer and former world rankings Martin Kaymer had clearly failed on the cut after two days and excreted prematurely.
