Severe burns
Lúcio posts photo from the hospital after a fire accident
In a domestic fire accident, the former Bundesliga professional Lúcio suffered serious burns. Now the Brazilian published a picture from the clinic – strongly bandaged.
The recording shows Lúcio on a hospital hall from behind together with wife Marilia: head and face, arms and legs are bandaged. The psalm can also be read: “God is our refuge and strength, a proven helper in times of need.” The former football professional posted the photo after his serious fire accident. He is currently in a clinic in Brasilia.
The former world -class defender, who played for Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern in the Bundesliga for eight years, had suffered the burns in a domestic accident last week. According to media reports, the accident was caused by the explosion of a table fireplace. The fireplace was therefore operated with bio-ethanol. Lúcio has been operated on twice since his entry. How long he will stay in the hospital is open.
Lúcio: His offensive advances were legendary
Lúcio, who is called Lucimar da Silva Ferreira with a full name, came to Germany in 2001 to Bayer Leverkusen. Three years later he moved to Munich, where he played until 2009. With FC Bayern he became German champion three times and as often as DFB Cup winners. The Brazilian international was one of the best central defenders in the world who was famous for his playing style. Lúcio was characterized by athletics and speed. His trademark was speed dribbling on the offensive. Sometimes he seemed to be more attackers than a defender.
In 2009 he switched to Inter Milan and won the Champions League with the Italians under coach José Mourinho a year later – against Bayern, of all things, who had not considered him well enough a year earlier. With the national team in 2002 he won the World Cup title in the Yokohama World Cup final with a 2-0 victory against Germany. He only finished his career in 2019 in his home country of Brazil.
