French Open: Lys out: French Open for German players over

The French Open are over for Germany’s tennis players before they really start. The last German number one said Eva Lys in Paris in the second round – after a mixed performance at 4: 6, 4: 6 against the Canadian qualifier Victoria Mboko.

“It was certainly not one of my best days on the court today. I didn’t quite find my timing,” said Lys after her bitter defeat. “I was always a little late.”

Trio already out in round one

Tatjana Maria, Laura Siegemund and Tamara Korpatsch had already failed in the first round before Lys. “Of course that’s disappointing,” said the national coach Torben Beltz, which is responsible for women. “We had hoped that Eva made it into the third round. Lys with problems right from the start
