Inter-Coach hopes for an advantage through final defeat 2023
Inter Milan is in the final class for the second time in three years. The disappointment of 2023 should now be an advantage against Paris. Coach Inzaghi will also be asked about his future.
Inter Milan relies on the experience from the final defeat two years ago in the final of the Champions League. In 2023, the Italians in Istanbul lost 0-1 against Manchester City. Now feel ready for the coup on Saturday (9:00 p.m./ZDF and DAZN) in Munich against Paris Saint-Germain. “The difference is the experience, especially in preparation for this final,” said coach Simone Inzaghi. “Every game has a story in itself. The coach hopes that his protégés are less excited in the second final than possibly the Parisians. “We need concentration, determination, but no obsession. But we know how to behave. We have world and European champions in the team. We are confident after such a season. Now we don’t want to be stopped.”
World and European champion as an extra trump card?
On the way to the final, Inter had conquered FC Bayern in the quarter-finals and then in two breathtaking semi-final games. “We grew a lot better as a team, have grown, have consisted of the highest level against opponents,” remembered Inter-captain Lautaro Martinez. The striker can celebrate the second great international success with Argentina after the 2022 World Cup title.
Midfielder Nicolò Barella is also only a win of it to get one of the most important trophies in football for the second time in his career. He had become European champion with Italy in 2021 – two years later he was one of the final losers in Istanbul. “We are ready, we are invited,” said Barella.
Coach for rumors of the future: “I’m fine here”
Trainer Inzaghi again did not go into questions about his future on the evening before the game. In Italy there are speculation that the ex-professional moves to Al-Ahli to Saudi Arabia after the season. “I will talk to the president and the club about the future on Monday or Tuesday,” said Inzaghi – but that is handled like this after every season.
At the Sky microphone, he added: “I am doing well here in the club, I have everything I want to be successful and satisfied.” Inzaghi actually has a contract until summer 2026.
