Elite cycling returned to San Luis with the best race in the region

This Sunday, with thousands of people along the streets, routes and highways during the 126 kilometers of the fifth and last stage, it reached a successful end with the participation of 22 teams, nine continental, eight national and five provincial. In addition, for this edition, it had the great novelty of having also had a Women’s Tour with three categories (Junior, Elite and Sub 23, with a total of 77 women) and the appearance of young people with the Junior Division (42 cyclists). The return of top cycling to San Luis, a dream that comes true for a province that breathes sport and is passionate about two wheels.

The winner among the professionals was Nicholas Tivani, the San Juan from Pocitos who rose to national consideration precisely in the last Tour de SL, in 2016, by winning the fifth stage of that edition. The Squirrel, who practiced roller hockey until his category disbanded and did not want to change clubs, started cycling thanks to the family tradition, which goes from his father to his brothers.

He went through Europe (2017 and 2018), he runs for the National Team and in the last six months he is the most successful cyclist: he had already won the Double Media Agua (San Juan), the Tour del Oeste (La Rioja), the Circuit Cuatro Puentes and the Vuelta a Cutral Có (Río Negro), as well as the Río Pinto by mountain bike. The runner from the Virgen de Fátima Group, who completed the 657 km in 15 hours, 14 minutes and 11 seconds, won two of the five stages, the second and fourth, the hardest, between Juana Koslay and the Mirador de Potrero de los Funes (165 km), to take the lead from Laureano Rosas –he had won the qualifying in the third stage-.

the puntano Mauricio Quiroga, from the Coraza de SL team, finished second overall, after winning the first and last stages. Among the teams, Team Medellín from Colombia prevailed, Oscar Sevilla won the Meta Montaña and Leonardo Cobarrubia won the Sprint Meta.

The Vuelta Femenina, which had two stages over the weekend, was won by Eliana Tocha. The girl from Pehuajó, just 16 years old and a member of the Ladies Power team, won the first stage on Saturday and on Sunday she was second to win the General and the classification of the Mountain finish line. She competes since she was 10 and is part of the interesting Argentine hotbed.

Cordoba was part Romina Biagioliwho participated in the Tokyo Games in the triathlon discipline and was one of the famous ones who signed up… In Junior, Bernardo Cambareri prevailed, the man from San Luis who won the first day and in the second, this Sunday, he took care of the difference against the attacks of Mateo Duque and Fabrizio Crozzolowho completed the podium.

In addition, in this Vuelta del Porvenir, he made his debut as coach of the San Luis continental team, achieving a meritorious fourth place, behind Medellín, Virgen de Fátima and Chimbas Te Quiero.

Safe routes, wonderful landscapes and the warmth of the people of San Luis completed an ideal combo for this stronger return each year of cycling to the province.
