French Open: Zverev disappointed against Djokovic: Out at the French Open

Alexander Zverev quickly disappeared into the cabin and had to leave Novak Djokovic the stage for the winner at the French Open. Zverev missed the move into the semi-finals and has to continue waiting for his first Grand Slam title. The previous year’s finalist lost his quarter -finals in Paris against the Serbs 6: 4, 3: 6, 2: 6, 4: 6 and, after a good start, showed an overall disappointing and phases. Djokovic converted his fifth match ball after 3:17 hours.

In the fight for the final entry, the 38-year-old record grand slam champion will meet the world ranking first Jannik Sinner on Friday. The Italian has been presenting in the Stade of Roland Garros in a furious form. In the quarter -finals, Sinner outclassed the Kazakh Alexander Baskrik 6: 1, 7: 5, 6: 0 and is still without loss of sets.

The three-month doping lock seems to have been good for the 23-year-old rather than harmed. The Italian looks fresh and enthusiastic and did not give the Bukik to a chance.

For Zverev, however, the French Open ended with the next disappointment. For him it should continue in the lawn season in Stuttgart and Halle. The next big goal is Wimbledon from June 30th.

Zverev had actually presented himself in good shape at his favorite Grand Slam tournament until Wednesday evening. And the previous year’s finalist Dominant also started against Djokovic and immediately took the serve from the Serbs. From then on, Zverev also determined the action and survived the only critical situation in the first sentence when he had to ward off a breakball at 4: 3. After 46 minutes, Zverev got the first set.

That was one of Zverev’s goals to increase the pressure on Djokovic, ten years older. Djokovic knocked on his thighs early on with the racket, and the strain of the past few weeks was noticeable. Before the French Open, Djokovic had won the ATP tournament in Geneva and therefore came to the French capital late.

Tennis legend Boris Becker also described the fitness as a key to victory before the game. “Sascha Zverev may be the physically strongest player who is still in the field,” Becker said in a Eurosport interview.

Djokovic clever and better

But Djokovic compensated for this with his large routine and a good match plan. After the first set won, Zverev looked briefly unfocused, Djokovic used this for an early break to 3: 1. From then on Zverev ran after this. Djokovic acted tactically than the German, Zverev kept running with many stops – and after 1:41 hours managed to compensate for the set.

Zverev was now completely off the role. Again and again the native of Hamburg looked at his team in the stands, but as so often there was no help from there. His clan had apparently not laid out a plan of how Zverev wanted to beat the record grand slam champion. Djokovic only had to keep the ball in the game – the rest of the Zverev was concerned with many simple mistakes.

Zverev Rat- and Loseless

It was astonishing how emotionless Zverev ended up the increasing defeat. German number one did not scold, did not struggle, but had Djokovic showed himself. In the fourth set, Zverev immediately gave up his service again. Reaction? None.

Coursted sipped Zverev about the Court Philippe-Chatrier, the audience waited in vain for a rearing. Once again, Zverev had the chance to get back into the game at 2: 3. In a break ball, however, he lost a 41 stroking rallies, which he should have won at least twice. But as so often that evening, Zverev lacked determination. The almost all of the balls defeated Djokovic defended the breakball and also let the audience celebrate after Zverev finally helped him with a mistake in the fifth match ball.
