Völler calls for the session of DFB team: Squire on it
The fright of the performance at 1-2 against Portugal is deep in the German national team. The sports director has a clear demand for the game on Sunday.
DFB sports director Rudi Völler warned a clear increase in performance of the national soccer team for the game for third place in the Nations League. The German selection of national coach Julian Nagelsmann disappointed in the 1-2 in the semifinals against Portugal and now meets France on Sunday in Stuttgart (3 p.m./RTL and DAZN). The French lost 4: 5 against European champion Spain despite later catching up.
“In any case, we have to go a shovel,” said Völler in the ARD right before the second semi -finals. The 65-year-old reported on a long meeting in which the defeat against Portugal was discussed on Thursday. “Of course we were all dissatisfied and disappointed,” admitted Völler and asked: “You always have to throw 100 percent into the balance.” The players would have understood this after the meeting in the team quarters in Herzogenaurach.
Again earn more chances
The former world -class striker not only criticized duel behavior and the defensive on the defeat in Munich. After the 1-0 lead by Florian Wirtz and the subsequent deficit, there were hardly any clear chances to score against the Portuguese. “That was much, much better against top opponents in the last games. We have to do it differently on Sunday,” said Völler.
“Perhaps we were a bit spoiled by the last many successful and good games that we made. At the highest level, if you do a few percent less, it is not enough,” emphasized the former team boss.
