Radprofi Degenkolb missed Tour de France

The Tour de France takes place without John Degenkolb. His team announces another failure for the highlight of the season.

This year’s Tour de France takes place without the German cyclist John Degenkolb. After a fall on the tour of the Flanders, the 36-year-old will not be fit in time for the highlight of the season, as his team Picnic Postnl announced. Degenkolb had contracted fractures in the collarbone, wrist and elbow in early April. He has not contested races since then.

“John’s injuries were more serious than we expected after the first scans and analyzes to Flanders. He had to undergo extensive operation,” said team doctor Camiel Aldershof about the condition of the routine.

The tour of France with a start in Lille and destination in Paris begins on July 5th and lasts until July 27th. Sprinter Fabio Jakobsen will not start. “At the beginning of the year, both John and Fabio were on our long list for the Tour de France, but the race comes too early for both,” said Rudi Kemna as the team’s sporting director.
