Football: Tuchel already counted in England – “bad joke”

After his first defeat, Thomas Tuchel gets the critics merciless to feel mercilessly. The Three Lions embarrassed themselves 1: 3 in a friendly against Senegal. “No reason to panic,” said the German. In the World Cup qualification, they have won three times and did not yet concede a goal. The opponents were called Albania, Latvia and Andorra.

The public comments sound different anyway. The anti-Tuchel warehouse, which was still concentrated on its German origin in the obligation as a national coach, is now getting sporting arguments.

“England as a potential world champion in a year? That really sounds like a bad joke,” commented the “Daily Mail”. The tabloid “Sun” mocked: “In view of this performance, the qualification for the World Cup in America would be a decent result next summer.”

The boo calls were loud, even Tuchel-Raus calls were heard after the oath of football in the Nottingham Forest stadium. And Tuchel’s handling of the performance was not approved either. “The players went to the fans to apologize – he didn’t,” wrote the “Times”. The “Independent” said: “It was a sad and terrifying performance.”

With Tuchel, the longing for the title should finally be breastfed. The only World Cup triumph is 60 years ago in the coming summer. The BBC was now: “No recognizable plan. No identity. No improvement – rather a step backwards – since Sir Gareth Southgate has resigned in Berlin after the defeat against Spain in the 2024 final in Berlin.”

Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (7th minute) had the Three Lions in the lead with his 73rd goal for England. Ismaila Sarr (40th), Habib Diarra (62nd) and Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly (90.+3) turned the game in favor of the guests. Immediately after the final whistle, TV expert Roy Keane found at ITV: “Something is lost, that doesn’t look like a happy group.”

“We will not panic. But we know that we have to improve,” said captain Kane. Tuchel himself found: “It is a learning experience-a hard one because we hate to lose it, but that’s how it is,” said the 51-year-old after the game. “We go into the long break with a bad feeling and a defeat, which is simply not nice and what we didn’t want.”

Next task again Andorra

On Saturday, the Three Lions in the World Cup qualification narrowly won 1-0 with outsider Andorra. After that, there had already been criticism of Tuchel and the team.
