Women’s European Championships
These are the professions of DFB national players
The German footballers can earn significantly more than before at the 2025 women. Nevertheless, they have to prepare for the time after the career.
In recent years, the importance of women’s football in Germany has increased enormously. Nevertheless, unlike their male colleagues, the players cannot necessarily assume that they have career as a football professional or then continue to work in sports.
Most soccer players therefore build up a second mainstay early – even if they play at the highest level. Many national players also study or have also worked in their professions in addition to their career. In the photo gallery you can see in which direction the DFB players are based.
Footballers continue to train by distance learning
Many footballers complete distance learning parallel to their career. The schedule hardly allows you to personally participate in lectures. At the beginning of their career, some younger players even pursue a full -time job – after all, it is by no means guaranteed that the leap to the Bundesliga will succeed or that the sports career injuries are suddenly an end.
DFB doubles premiums for the EM 2025
The DFB has doubled the title bonus for the European Championship in Switzerland. If the national team becomes European champion, each player receives 120,000 euros. At the tournament three years ago it was 60,000 euros. This year there are premiums from reaching the quarterfinal.
“We need a sustainable development of the structures and conditions. And we also need more performance incentives in women’s football. The victory premium, which is now doubled compared to the past EM, is therefore an important sign,” said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf. However, the premium is still significantly below the money that the men get. The team of national coach Julian Nagelsmann would have received 400,000 euros per player for the European Championship title 2024.
