High density of natural and outdoor pools in Germany
The number of outdoor and natural baths is high in Germany. According to the German Society for Bathroom, there are a total of 2,800 outdoor pool offers and around 570 natural baths, it said. On average, nobody lives away from a bathing option by car. Nevertheless, the differences are large depending on the region. According to the statistics, you have to plan more than 20 minutes by car, including in less populated regions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg, in northern Saxony-Anhalt and in parts of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Baths are a popular training company. In 2023, a good 600 people started training as a specialist for bathrooms, commonly called lifeguard or swimming master. That was a little more (plus 3.0 percent) than a year earlier. More than two thirds (67.6 percent) of the new trainees were men. The number of people who have started this training has increased by more than a quarter (27.5 percent) within ten years.
