My hatred of the club World Cup grows every day
The club World Cup runs in the USA and it runs badly as expected. The tournament didn’t care for a long time – until it started. Now the anger has to go out!
The people who know me actually tell me through the bank I am a “balanced type”. I would really think of that, which brings me out or even makes me angry. Now I’m sitting here and taping this text with the middle fingers. Club World Cup, this damn club World Cup. Yes, I know, feels like every journalist who is only interested in football, the mouth has already tore off with a minor football entertainment in the past few weeks and months about this tournament. I didn’t care about this farce until the start. But since the first game in the USA, my hatred has grown every day. Preliminary climax: an embarrassing 0-0 of my Borussia from Dortmund against Fluminensee from Rio de Janeiro.
The anger has to go: Everything at the club World Cup is wrong!
Anger is rarely a good guide. But she has to get out somewhere. And I just don’t like to scream random people on the street. Then here:
Everything, really everything at the club World Cup is wrong. From the completely arbitrary election of the participants, to the venue and the kick -off times to the time of the tournament. Let’s briefly work on it:
Yes, I know that for many non-European teams it is a huge opportunity against teams like … Wait, I have to look at who is all … Real Madrid or Manchester City and increase their level of awareness. A wonderful idea on paper. However, if this idea leads to the fact that FC Bayern Auckland City sweeps 10: 0 off the square and the most interesting question is who gets the jersey from Müller-Thomas after the game, we have a problem.
No wonder that the stadiums remain empty
The venue: The United States is probably just behind Katar with the worst idea of aligning such a tournament. Not that this Garden of Eden of Capitalism does not have the infrastructure, the stages or the popularity for “Soccer”-the 1994 World Cup is said to have been a success on the whole-but a “real” World Cup has more radiance than a couple of bought clubs from all over the world that play a golden glass ball (yes, I mean the trophy of the club World Part is).
Small sidefact, if you are surprised, why these huge football concrete bowls remain empty and the FIFA supposedly sold tickets for four dollars: If on Wednesday evening German (!) Zeit Manchester City competes against the traditional Wydad AC from Morocco, it is on site in Philadelphia 12 p.m. Think about when the last time you took a day off to watch a completely irrelevant friendly in the plump midday sun.
It may be that FIFA sees the largest growth market for football in the USA, but you certainly don’t make it more popular in the country if fans don’t even have the chance to go to the stadium because you have to pursue an absurd jobs.
Ultimately, such impetus times show that FIFA sees football only as a pure TV event. Ideally without disturbing fans in the stadium. Corona spirits, I hear traps.
Regeneration seems to have become a foreign word
One last point, and I mean completely seriously: I’m worried. Not like many others about the commercialization of this sport – the train has long since left for me. I’m worried about the players. Even though we like to carry the merciless malocher mentality in front of us and like to fly out of anger when screaming from the mouth when a player is not required in the 94th minute and at 3: 0, which is not required by these footballers, which is not required by these footballers.
Many national players played the European Championship last summer, then rubbed themselves in a long season, now play the club World Cup and then start preparing for the new season. Quite apart from the fact that the World Championship is already running at this time. Regeneration seems to have become a foreign word. It is actually irresponsible that a club has already agreed to this joke tournament.
But as is now apparently so common: Pate Gianni Infantino wags with a check and makes an offer that cannot be rejected. Even if that endangers the health of several young people.
