Becker at Wimbledon as a TV expert from Milan
Boris Becker won the title in Wimbledon three times in his active time – 40 years ago for the first time. He will accompany the anniversary by another place as a TV expert.
For the 40th anniversary of his first Wimbledon triumph, Boris Becker will not be used as a TV expert on site at the lawn classic. As in the past two years, the tennis legend will comment on the Grand Slam tournament for the broadcaster Sky Italia from Milan and was contractually bound here, Becker’s lawyer Christian-Oliver Moser said to the German Press Agency.
Lawyer: Great interest from TV channels to Becker
“However, there is great interest from various TV channels, Mr. Becker again as an expert/commentator on site next year,” said Moser. The third Grand Slam tournament of the year begins on June 30th.
After the early dismissal from detention in December 2022, which he had served in a London prison for incorrect information in the bankruptcy proceedings, Becker has not been allowed to enter England in recent years. Therefore, it was not possible for him to work as a TV expert in Wimbledon for the BBC in the past.
Becker’s center of life in Milan
Last year Becker said that they were working on a return to the Grand Slam tournament in London in 2025. “It is part of my life. It is in my DNA, you can’t deny that,” he said at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid.
Becker won the title at the classic lawn three times in his active career, first in 1985 as a 17-year-old. Born in Leimen, he now lives together with his wife Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro in Milan.
