MC Alger wins the Algerian football championship for the ninth time. A bad misfortune in the stadium with dead and injured overshadow the end of the season.

Three people were killed in a tragic stadium accident in Algeria and at least 81 football fans were injured. During cheers about the ninth championship title for the Club Mouloudia Club D’Alger by a 0-0 on the last match day against Nedjm Chabab Magra, a part of Oberrank was collapsed in Stadium 5 in Algier on Saturday. According to the Algerian Ministry of Health, a mass panic is said to have occurred in the fan area.

The injured were cared for in three hospitals in the Algerian capital, 70 of them have already left the hospitals after medical treatments. In the newspaper “La Gazette du Fennec”, blood donation was called. “The injured and hospitalized fans are often young, passionate and came to celebrate a title that they have been waiting for. They only wanted to feel the enthusiasm of their club. Today, their lives depend on little: a blood pane,” wrote the newspaper.

President speaks condolences

“According to the painful tragedy that the fans of Mouloudia d’Alger healed today in the 5th July Stadium, I can only express my condolences to the deceased fan,” President Abdelmadjid Tebboune wrote to X, even before the death of two other followers of the host club Alger wrote. He ordered an investigation of the incident.

Minister of Health Abdelhak Saihi expressed his deepest condolences and sincere sympathy for the victims of a hospital visit.

According to unconfirmed information, a fence in the upper rank of the stadium had broken away from the pressure of the recurring trailers. As a result, numerous people fell into the depth. A trailer died on site, two more later succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

The President of the Algerian Football Association (FAF), Walid Sadi, said that he wished the injured a quick recovery and hope for their safe return to their families.
