Woltemade meets again: U21 soccer players in the European Championship semi-final
After four victories in a row, the German U21 selection is in the European Championship semi-final. Once again, striker Nick Woltemade is left.
The German U21 selection is at the European Football Championship in Slovakia in the semi-finals. After three victories in the preliminary round, the team of coach Antonio di Salvo in Dunajska Streda also won the quarter -finals against Italy 3: 2 (2: 2, 0: 0) after extra time. Joker Merlin Röhl scored the decisive goal in the 117th minute. The semi-final opponent is France on Wednesday.
Luca Koleosho (58th minute) brought Italy in the lead, Nick Woltemade (68th) equalized with his fifth tournament gate. In front of 6,503 spectators, Italy’s Wilfried Gnonto saw yellow-red in the 80th minute.
In the majority, Nelson Weiper initially scored the supposed winning goal in the 87th minute. Shortly before the game ended in Mattia Zanotti (90th), another Italian with yellow-red had to get off the pitch. Nevertheless, Giuseppe Ambrosini (90.+6) still equalized with a directly converted free kick. In the extension, the Germans prevailed against only nine players with eleven.
