The State Duma on Wednesday, February 16, immediately adopted in the second and third readings a bill aimed at counteracting the spread of insider information and preventing conflicts of interest in sports.
The bill provides for the introduction of new concepts in the law – “conflict of interest in the field of physical culture and sports” and “insider information”.
The first concept implies conflicts in situations where the organizers and participants of the competition or persons associated with them are interested in obtaining material benefits or other advantages.
The second is information identified as insider information by the relevant sports federation or professional league.
According to the bill, all-Russian sports federations and professional sports leagues will be required to approve lists of insider information and post them on their official websites within five days of their approval.
The organizers of the competitions will be obliged to include in the regulations and regulations of the tournaments the requirements for the prevention of conflicts of interest in the field of physical culture and sports, as well as measures aimed at the implementation of these requirements.
