The most powerful and fastest cars in the world

Anyone who used to play car quartet will like this comparison: Which cars are currently the fastest and most powerful that money can buy? A deck of cards from the 1990s would look pretty old when compared to today’s cars. While 1000 hp used to be something very special, manufacturers are outdoing each other with ever more extreme engines.

The most powerful production car in the world

The spearhead is a vehicle that has yet to be delivered. With the Koenigsegg Gemera, the Swedish brand wants to create the most extreme vehicle to date that can be driven on the road with a conventional license plate.

With a combination of electric and V8 engines, the car is expected to produce an incredible 2300 hp and press the occupants into their seats with 2750 Newton meters of torque. The first customers can expect to receive the cars in 2025, provided an as yet unknown sum in the millions has been paid beforehand.

Unfortunately, Koenigsegg is keeping the driving data a secret. How quickly the car will sprint to 100 km/h and when the speedometer will wave the white flag is currently unknown. The fact is: it will be damn fast.

Purists are dying out

What most vehicles with insane system performance have in common is a combination of electric and combustion engines. Otherwise, it is extremely difficult to achieve the sometimes unbelievable acceleration.

But with the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 you can get over 1000 hp just by running on petrol. But you shouldn’t complain about the fuel consumption: even the company boss describes the vehicle’s thirst as “terrible”.

Perhaps that is also the reason why the vehicle is the last hurrah of the V8 era for the company. Because the future of the Challenger and Charger is electric.

Electric Power

This is not really surprising, because even high-horsepower (sorry, high-kW) cars can apparently be put on the road relatively easily with a battery. This overview includes numerous electric cars that can easily compete with the million-euro cars of the luxury brands in terms of performance – but in terms of sound and emotion they will probably never come close to the unrestrained roar of the V or W engines.
