The small semi-detached house in the village of Hurst Green looks different now. Less dreary than it did four years ago, when the newly elected Labour Party leader Keir Starmer had his photo taken in front of it. The new owners have whitewashed the rough plaster, and the front door is a fresh sage green. Nevertheless, it must have been cramped in the small house for the Starmer family with their four children, four dogs, the grumpy father Rod Starmer and the chronically ill mother Jo.
