Most manufacturers of enormously expensive cars have departments that can anticipate every wish of their wealthy customers – and make it all come true for a lot of money. Rolls-Royce offers coachbuilt vehicles (or bespoke), Porsche simply calls it “special request” and at Lamborghini it is the personalization department Ad Personam.
The Revuelto Opera Unica, a sea-blue one-off, comes from exactly this department. But that doesn’t mean the four-digit engine power or the enormous acceleration – that’s all old news.
Lamborghini spent 85 hours tinkering on a tool
The Opera Unica is all about the paintwork. Lamborghini says it took 475 hours to complete. They wanted a color that would reflect the sea around Sardinia and its waves – with corresponding effects. To achieve this, the manufacturer chose three shades of blue and dark contrasts, grabbed a brush and spatula and started layering.
In the interior, Lamborghini created a matching stitching effect, for which they say they needed 85 hours just to build the necessary tools. Side note: The tool in question is now apparently being consigned to the dustbin, as the effect it can create is only intended for use on the Revuelto Opera Unica.
Lamborghini writes that the car was presented at a dinner in the luxury resort of Cala di Volpe. It is not known who will be driving the blue one-off along the winding roads of Sardinia in the future. The sports car manufacturer also has this in common with other luxury manufacturers: how much things cost and who buys them – that is something that is not discussed.
