Big Boy 1200
Glamping extreme: This is what’s in a luxury motorhome for 1.5 million euros

The Brabus brand is known for extreme vehicles. But there were no mobile homes until now. That should change in the future – if someone orders it for that price.
This monster no longer has anything in common with a conventional motorhome: The Brabus Big Boy 1200 is the first luxury motorhome from the vehicle refiner from the Ruhr region. And of course, true to the brand, Brabus exaggerates wherever possible.
It starts with the dimensions: The Big Boy relies on a Mercedes truck, model Actros 5. In total, the mobile home measures twelve meters in length, four meters in height and an extendable width of 4.5 meters. This results in a living space of 30 square meters.
So that you can reach your destination in a befitting manner with the camping giant, the towing vehicle is equipped with a 12.8 liter six-cylinder turbo diesel that produces 530 hp. But more than 90 kilometers per hour is not possible. A higher speed would not only be legally problematic, but also very expensive. According to the manufacturer, the Big Boy 1200 swallows between 36.7 and 43.1 liters per 100 kilometers. No wonder: the monster weighs 26 tons.
30 square meters in the motorhome – but still quite sterile
At first glance, the interior seems surprisingly sparse for such a huge vehicle: There is a large kitchen with an adjacent seating area, a lavish sink, a rainforest shower and a toilet with enough legroom. The bedroom consists of a 160×200 meter bed, a wardrobe and a work corner with an integrated TV.
At first glance it doesn’t look particularly comfortable, but the furnishings are ultimately the responsibility of the owners. In any case, the technology is state-of-the-art. There are two large 43-inch televisions as standard, an extensive sound system, a Playstation 5 and a Starlink receiver for (almost) worldwide internet via satellite.
The Big Boy can also function for long periods without an external power source: eight solar panels on the roof, a storage unit and a generator supply the motorhome with self-sufficient energy. Correspondingly large tanks for fresh water and wastewater should also reduce the dependency on infrastructure.
Sufficient space must be provided
Speaking of infrastructure: If you don’t want to stand alone in the barren landscape like the truck in the press photos, you have to find out where you can park such a monster before you leave with a motorhome of this size. Many campsites cannot accommodate such a long vehicle – relevant search engines are available, for example, via “”.
However, that assumes that you are prepared to put 1.5 million euros on the table for the Brabus. A small downer apart from the price: the Brabus does not have a garage like many motorhomes of this size have. If you want to explore the area in a car, you will also need a trailer.
