THE university ranking: the performance of Argentine institutions
THE Latin American university ranking analyzed the best universities in the Latin American and Caribbean region. The methodology is based on the evaluation of the main missions of educational centers: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international perspective.
Ámbito participated in the presentation held at the headquarters of the Austral University. There he had the opportunity to talk with Oscar Mumford, who works in THE’s data analysis sector.
“This year It was not the strongest for Argentine universitiesalthough they stand out in reputation and have a good position in the research area” highlighted Mumford.
On the other hand, the specialists explained the reason why the UBA did not integrate the ranking: “This is related to the fact that to participate you have to submit the data and For now, that university did not participate. If we do not have the data, we cannot analyze it and include the establishment” they argued.
The National University of La Plata, the best in Argentina in the THE ranking
After knowing the result of the THE ranking, Ámbito spoke with Martín López Armengol, president of the UNLP, and highlighted that it is something “important because it evaluates issues linked to teaching, quality of research, international perspective and relationship with the industry”.
“For us, what these rankings say always works as a reference, and although it is not an end in itself, it helps us to evaluate how we have been functioning in these basic activities and eventually address improvement processes,” Armengol remarked.
Meanwhile, the Universidad Austral was the privately managed university that obtained the best results in the evaluation.
