The organization issued a statement in relation to the episode of violence suffered by a group of researchers and their students in the town of Potrerillos.
During the day on Wednesday, the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) denounced “acts of violence and intimidation“against teachers of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Museum (UNLP) of Mendoza by militants affiliated with Freedom Advances. The attack occurred while activities were being carried out with students of the career of Geology in Potrerillos.
Under this line, the organization filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office of Luján de Cuyo for what they described as an “attack on the freedom of education and the right of students to be educated in a safe environment,” and demanded that the authorities “investigate the facts and guarantee a safe environment for academic staff can carry out their tasks without fear of aggression or threats.
The CONICET message after the acts of violence
The organization dedicated to the promotion of science and technology in Argentina issued a statement on its website this Thursday: ”The CONICET Board of Directors returns to express against violence of any kind: physical, verbal, political, religious, ideological or symbolic. Libertarian militants claimed responsibility for the attack on university professors
