The organization issued a statement in relation to the episode of violence suffered by a group of researchers and their students in the town of Potrerillos.

During the day on Wednesday, the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) denounced “acts of violence and intimidation“against teachers of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Museum (UNLP) of Mendoza by militants affiliated with Freedom Advances. The attack occurred while activities were being carried out with students of the career of Geology in Potrerillos.

Under this line, the organization filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office of Luján de Cuyo for what they described as an “attack on the freedom of education and the right of students to be educated in a safe environment,” and demanded that the authorities “investigate the facts and guarantee a safe environment for academic staff can carry out their tasks without fear of aggression or threats.

The CONICET message after the acts of violence

The organization dedicated to the promotion of science and technology in Argentina issued a statement on its website this Thursday: ”The CONICET Board of Directors returns to express against violence of any kind: physical, verbal, political, religious, ideological or symbolic. This will never be the way to resolve conflicts or differences. Since the return to democracy, our society has rejected these methods because we know the terrible consequences they entail. “We all know how it begins, but never how it ends.”

We cannot naturalize aggression that students and professors-researchers of the UNLP who were carrying out work corresponding to the geology degree in Potrerillos, Mendoza have suffered,” they added, and expressed solidarity with “those affected and we strongly repudiate the acts of intimidation and violence suffered, as well as grievances against the university institution and CONICET”, as well as “with all members of the science and technology community who have been the subject of public hostility in relation to the work activities they carry out.

”We will continue working with the firm conviction that it is essential to promote dialogue in peace, without attacking individuals or groups, and we especially call on adults with public exposure to campaign for the cause of promoting peace and coexistence in our community. . Life in peace is a basic condition to build a viable countryin which all people and institutions can develop their potential to the fullest,” they concluded.

Libertarian militants claimed responsibility for the attack on university professors

The facts were claimed by at least two libertarian militants through social networks. “The lefties from Conicet and the UNLP were in Potrerillos, tying ribbons from the geology faculty.

The Police supported them saying that you can’t bother people like that, that we are aggressive. They are aggressive when they steal from the State, from us. That’s what we have to say: “Let them go take a bath, as the President says”expressed a man and a woman through a video.
