Cristina Kirchner: “The Constitution must be reformed, there cannot be elections every two years”

The former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner raised this Wednesday the need to modify voting times in the country. “We must reform the Constitution. There cannot be elections every two years, it has to be every four years. The mandates must be arranged so that they last four years”, he said in statements during an interview.

The former president also reiterated her criticism of Judiciary, which he pointed out as “poorly politicized” and that must also be modified. Also, in dialogue with the podcast Generation 94renewed his criticism of President Javier Milei and rejected the versions about a pact between Kirchnerism and La Libertad Avanza.

Cristina Kirchner pointed out in favor of a constitutional reform

“We could not get Deputies to repeal Decree 70 because the dialogueists and those of the PRO get together. Who gave you a number to approve the RIGI? The dialogueists and the PRO,” said Cristina.

In addition, he deepened his judgment towards official sectors: “Who does not allow the DNU to be repealed due to the debt? The dialogueists and those of the PRO. And those who vote against all of them are those of the block of Union for the Homeland, and it turns out that the ones who agreed with Milei are us. They are very cheeky”, he indicated.

And he expanded: “They are the ones who are allowing Milei to do anything. “It is the PRO and all the dialogue blocks that are allowing Milei to do anything, with retirees, with prepaid companies, with everything, because they give him the numbers in the Chamber of Deputies.”

“It is also necessary to introduce what can be declared constitutional or unconstitutional. The latest reform that is being carried out in Mexico is the election of judges by popular vote… Is it something modern and contemporary that someone who can decide about your life, your freedom and your assets, once appointed, lasts for the entire to life? The only power that does that is the Judiciary,” said the former president.

Furthermore, he questioned: “We have a monarchical hindrance in one of the powers of the State.” On the other hand, when analyzing why Javier Milei won in the last presidential elections, Cristina Kirchner mentioned two causes: “First, because the great bet made by non-Peronism and anti-Peronism failed with (Mauricio)”.

The second cause he pointed out was “the expectation of what was generated in a sort of being able to reissue what from 2003-2015which also notoriously failed. It has to do with that. The runoff was that anti-Peronism was displaced and gave Milei the victory.”
