He was in intensive care for three months, until he was later referred to the Santa Catalina rehabilitation center, in San Cristóbal, but then in September he returned to the first health center.

In the middle of a series of operations, he had to enter the operating room four times due to intestinal ischemia. 70 centimeters of intestine had to be removed.

The journalist’s hospitalizations took place in the midst of a serious dispute between his wife and daughters, which even reached court.

Judge Lucila Inés Córdoba settled the fight by ruling that Bárbara, the journalist’s eldest daughter, be in charge of making decisions about Lanata’s health.
