More than 600 General Rodríguez students completed their studies at Potrero Digital

It is a network of learning centers in digital trades aimed at people over 16 years of age in situations of social vulnerability.

More than 600 students from General Rodriguez They were already trained for free in digital trades thanks to EdTech “Digital Potrero”, the network of learning centers aimed at obtaining work and carried out in conjunction with the local municipality and the Compromiso Foundation.

The initiative was possible thanks to the donation of more than a thousand scholarships by the Yellow Rose Polo Club, from Jorge “Corcho” Rodríguez. It is intended for people over 16 years of age and without age limit, and is aimed at those people who seek to specialize in Digital Marketing, Electronic Commerce and Digital Programming, among other orientations.

603 students from General Rodríguez specialized in the training paths that the program has such as Digital Marketing (level 1, 2 and 3), Web Programming (level 1, 2 and 3), Art and Animation (level 1 and 2), Computer support and Cloud Solutions.

“At Fundación Compromiso, we are convinced that digital education is a powerful tool to transform realities and generate concrete opportunities. Through Potrero Digital, we not only train thousands of people throughout the country, but we also contribute to closing the digital divide and strengthening the skills necessary for a constantly evolving world of work,” he highlights. The initiative has a great social impact: 56% of graduates are working and of them, 68% are the main breadwinner for their family. For this reason, virtual classes include the necessary tools for today’s world of work, to which are added courses common to all of Socio-Emotional Skills and English.

In addition, 73% stated that their time at Potrero Digital influenced them to get a job and 71% got the job within six months of completing the course.

The scholarships were launched in 2023 with the participation of the mayor of General Rodríguez, Mauro García, who highlighted the significant social impact of the program to meet the need for training in the digital world. Which makes it possible to narrow the digital gap that many of the sectors that need to reintegrate into the workforce have.

Potrero Digital, a bridge to the world of work

Potrero Digital is a network of learning centers in digital trades aimed at people over 16 years of age in situations of social vulnerability. This initiative contributes to the democratization and inclusion of access to the opportunities presented by the digital economy through the development of digital skills for job placement.

From 2018 to date, +5,000 young people and adults were trained in Digital Marketing with Google, Programming with Digital House, Electronic Commerce with Mercado Libre, Animated Design with Da Vinci, Technical Support with Cisco, Cloud Practitioner next to Amazon; and +52% of graduates are working in the formal digital economy with the support of Potrero Empleos, their job placement team.
