The president affirmed that the decision to change the design of legal tender bills aims to “highlight the dimension of history that some want to erase” and rescue the figure of “immense and transcendental men and women who made the Homeland we live in today”.
At the presentation of the new bills, which recover the images of heroes and heroines, Fernández said that “silencing those who gave infinite wealth to our country does not do our social group any good.”

“What we are doing is putting our heroes and heroines back, to the men and women who made history in Argentina on banknotes. With this we recover social identity,” President Fernández said last Friday in an interview with Radio con Vos.
“We as a country have a historical identity and we have to put our most valuable men and women in our hands, in the money we handle every day“added the head of state.
Fernández ruled out the issuance of new banknote denominations and considered as a “simplified reading” link the introduction of a new design with the need to issue higher denomination paper.
The idea is that they gradually replace the previous series of native animals, which today has the baker as the symbol of the highest denomination bill, the 1,000 pesos.
