The salary in dollars in Argentina is the lowest in the region

Jobint, the HR Tech with leading brands such as Bumeran, Zonajobs, Selecta and HiringRoom, conducted a study on the labor market in the region based on data from its classifieds sites in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Panama and Peru. In order to compare the data from the different countries, wages were dollarized. In the case of Argentina, the official dollar and the MEP dollar were considered to obtain a more realistic picture of the situation.

Federico Barni, CEO of Jobint, explained during the presentation that the MEP dollar was taken as a parameter because it is the one that generates the least distortions in comparison with the rest of the countries. For example, if the official one is taken – without taxes and almost inaccessible to the market – Argentina would have the second highest average salary, after Chile.

April data shows that the highest average salary in the region is the Chilean with 1,138 dollars per month. They are followed by the Panamanian with 1,037 dollars per month, the Ecuadorian with 808 dollars per month and the Peruvian with 803 dollars per month. In last place, the Argentine to MEP dollar with 632 per month.

In an analysis of salaries according to the seniority of the position, for the boss or supervisor levels, the highest average remuneration is the Chilean one with 1,574 dollars per month.

Then there are the Panamanian with 1,397 dollars per month, the Ecuadorian with 1,385 dollars per month and the Peruvian with 1,351 dollars per month. Again, Argentina occupies the last position with 971 MEP dollars per month.

In the junior segment, the highest average salary is that of Chile with 921 dollars per month. They are followed by that of Panama with 761 dollars per month, that of Ecuador with 516 dollars per month and that of Peru with 483 dollars per month. The one from Argentina to MEP dollar is the lowest with 426 per month.

The salary in Chile rises 10.4%. In Panama and Ecuador it remains stable with increases of 1.3% and 0.2%, respectively. In Peru, a 5.4% drop in the required salary in dollars is observed.

So far this year, the average remuneration in Argentina continues to grow above that of other countries in the region: 24.4% in MEP dollars and 12.1% in official dollars.

In Peru it is 9.8%, in Chile 7.6% and in Panama 1.3%. In Ecuador a decrease of 1.1% was registered.

With 24.8% lower wages for women, Argentina has the largest gender gap in the region. Argentina has the highest female participation in job advertisement applications with 54% of the total.

According to job seniority, Argentine women represent 52% of applications for junior positions, 51% of applications for senior and semi-senior positions, and 26% for manager and supervisor positions. Participation decreases as the required experience increases, with junior participation reaching double that of boss and supervisor levels.

The second country with the highest female participation is Chile with 51%. They are followed by Panama with 48% and Peru with 40%. In last place is Ecuador with 38%.

Regarding the gender gap, the main difference in the required wages between men and women is observed in Argentina with 24.8% in favor of men. This difference increases in parallel with the seniority of the position: from 5.5% in senior positions, it goes to 24.2% in senior and semi-senior levels, and reaches 39.5% in manager and supervisor.

The second country with the largest gender gap in expected salaries is Chile with 17.2%. The third, Peru with 10.2%; the fourth, Ecuador with 5.6%; and the fifth, Panama with 1.3%.

Salaries in three key sectors: Technology and Systems, Administration and Finance, and Production, supply and Logistics

The study carried out by Jobint also considers the average salaries and those of junior positions and boss or supervisor of three sectors of the world of work: Technology and Systems, Administration and Finance, and Production, Supply and Logistics.

In Technology and Systems, the salaries required for senior or semi-senior positions in descending order are US$1,530 per month in Chile, US$1,206 per month in Panama, US$1,009 per month in Peru, MEP US$907 in Argentina, and US$895 per month in Argentina. Ecuador.

Within the boss or supervisor segment, the highest remuneration is in Chile at 1,970 dollars per month and the lowest in Ecuador at 1,292 dollars per month. For junior levels, the highest salary is in Chile at $1,142 per month and the lowest in Argentina at $445 MEP.

In Administration and Finance, the expected salaries for senior or semi-senior positions in descending order are US$1,118 per month in Chile, US$1,075 per month in Panama, US$830 per month in Peru, US$777 per month in Ecuador and MEP US$651 per month. month in Argentina.

Within the categories of boss or supervisor, the highest salary is 1,516 dollars in Peru and the lowest is 1,055 MEP dollars in Argentina. For junior positions, the highest remuneration is 889 dollars per month in Chile and the lowest is 450 MEP dollars in Argentina.

In Production, Supply and Logistics, the suggested salaries for senior or semi-senior positions in descending order are $1,332 per month in Chile, $1,178 per month in Panama, $879 per month in Peru, also $879 per month in Ecuador and $771 MEP dollars per month in Argentina.

Within the boss or supervisor levels, the highest remuneration is 1,701 dollars per month in Chile and the lowest is 1,021 MEP dollars per month also in Argentina. For junior positions, the highest salary is 1,023 dollars per month in Chile and the lowest is 477 MEP dollars in Argentina.

In Argentina, first job advertisements receive 2.25 more applications than the market average First job advertisements, those that do not require work experience, receive more applications than the average advertisement in the entire region with the exception of Ecuador.

Argentina is the country that obtains the most applications in this category: 2.25 more than the market average. Peru has 1.89 more applications, Panama 1.43 and Chile 1.11. Ecuador has the same number of first job applications as the market average.

What is the average age of first job applicants? In the region, applicants for first job positions have an average age of 23 years. The highest average age recorded is in Panama with 24 years, and the lowest is in Argentina with 21 years.

Argentina has the largest difference between the average age of applicants for first job advertisements and advertisements for junior positions: 3.5 years.

What are the areas with the highest number of first job ads? The Commercial areas stand out; Administration and finance; Production, Supply and Logistics; and others. The category Others includes subareas such as Gastronomy and Tourism; trades; Education, Teaching and Research; Health, Medicine and Pharmacy; Mining, Oil and Gas; and Insurance.

In Argentina, Others represents 26% of first job advertisements, Commercial 22% and Administration and Finance 19%. In Ecuador, Administration and Finance reaches 24% of the total, Commercial 19% and Others 17%. In Peru, Commercial obtains 33%, Others 19% and Production, Supply and Logistics 18%. In Chile, Production, Supply and Logistics leads the ranking with 35%, followed by Others with 19% and Commercial with 17%.

In the case of Panama, Others reaches 28%, Production, Supply and Logistics and Commercial 14%.
