Fighting inflation is a task for all Argentines

“We have to continue lowering that index. Inflation is very harmful to the country’s economy and fighting it is a task for all Argentines”Fernández pointed out in statements to Radio 10 made from Bali, Indonesia, where the president participated in the G20 summit.

In relation to the Fair Prices program, which establishes the setting of the costs of almost 2,000 basic necessities for four months, Fernández highlighted the participation of the mayors for the implementation of this initiative.

“Everything necessary has been done to provide instruments, strength, to the mayors so that they help us in controlling the fair prices that have been agreed”assured the president in the interview he gave this morning from Bali.

Regarding the price index, in the communications category there was an increase of 12 percent, based on the increases that were registered in telephone and internet services.

At that point, the president recalled that in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, he declared, through Decree 690/20, he had declared telecommunications a public service, a measure that the court suspended by accepting a precautionary measure .

“It would be great for the judges to rule because there one realizes how telecommunications influence the price index. The Supreme Court has to decide on an amparo and, until that is resolved, the Decree cannot be applied,” he explained. Fernandez.

In this sense, he affirmed that “it would be good for the situation to be expedited” in justice and that “it is understood that communication is an essential service for the community and the prices of cable, cell phone service and internet have their impact as well” in inflation.

During the interview with Radio 10, Fernández pondered that the Argentine economy “It continues to grow and has not been paralyzed”, but he noted that “we must continue working to improve two deficits that we have: inflation and the distribution of wages.”
