Doppler buys company for fuel import from Italy

The mineral oil group Doppler (pictured: managing director Bernd Zierhut) with headquarters in Wels has taken over the Carinthian family company Scharnagl. With the help of the business shares and the logistics park of the company, which has a turnover of more than 30 million euros, more diesel and petrol products should be brought from northern Italy to Austria this year, Doppler reported yesterday, Tuesday. A purchase price was not mentioned.

Doppler recently had a turnover of one billion euros with 600 employees. More imports from Italy and Slovenia will be needed to deal with a possible shortage of supplies in the first half of this year due to the embargo caused by the war in Ukraine. The advantage is that Italy can be imported quite easily by ship from overseas, for example. In addition to Carinthia, the leading company also wants to supply Salzburg and Styria with the diesel and petrol from northern Italy.

All employees and nine trucks will be taken over from Scharnagl. The brand does not last. The company from Schiefling am Wörthersee was founded in 1941. The acquisition was signed in December and has now been approved by the Cartel Office.
