The emergency braking came as a surprise. For years, sustainable investments were a hit in the German investment industry: According to the Forum Nachhaltige Geldanlage (FNG), private investors had invested almost 250 billion euros in “green” public funds by the end of 2021 – twice as much as a year earlier. The sustainable market thus grew five times faster than the overall market.
