The fashion industry already generates more than 400,000 jobs

During 2022, the FAIIA and the CIAI focused on the development of the sector in the country, committing to regional progress and generating 1,300 new sewing jobs in the clothing poles of Catamarca and La Rioja. In this way, the Federation and the Chamber ensure that they are committed to regional industries as an opportunity for productive growth and job creation. In September 2022, The new positions of white salaried seamstresses increased by 11.8%, as well as there was a 137% increase in the wages of seamstresses.

The Federation and the Chamber announced that, during the last year, six new sewing training centers were opened with inaugurations of offices in Ezeiza, San Martin, Avellaneda, Catamarca and La Rioja. In this way, more than 750 new sewing jobs were generated in Catamarca and more than 550 new positions in La Rioja, making fifteen top-level brands choose to sew in these two clothing hubs. Besides, Statistics showed a 57.3% rise in clothing exports in November 2022.

Experts point out that, for the creation of jobs to continue to increase, it is necessary to stimulate the production of SMEs with a clear objective. This is why, between 2018 and 2022, both the CIAI and the FAIIA trained more than 6,000 people with specialized courses for middle managers in companies through their “Grow” program.

As a result, 500 companies and 23 provinces accessed the courses, learning new technologies. Likewise, in CABA, La Rioja and Catamarca, 15 sewing training courses were given to continue promoting the national industry, which is a key sector for the Argentine economy.
