Of the seven sectors surveyed in January, three fell in the year-on-year comparison and the remaining four increased. Pharmacy, with a real annual increase of 10.7%, followed by Perfume (+5.3%) and Food and Beverages (+3.6%) and had the best performance. Textiles and clothing (-14.4%) and Footwear and leather goods (-2.5%) were the worst performers and seem to have returned to the dynamics in force prior to December 2022.

The businesses consulted indicated that people ended the year with heavily loaded cards and that made low-value purchases prevail.

This is how it emerges from the SME Retail Sales Index of the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME), prepared based on its monthly survey among 1,051 retail businesses throughout the country, carried out between February 1 and 3.

The branch with the best performance in the first month of the year was Pharmacy, with a real annual increase of 10.7%, followed by Perfume (+5.3%) and Food and Beverages (+3.6%). In turn, Textiles and clothing (-14.4%) and Footwear and leather goods (-2.5%) were the worst performers.
