Due to Vaca Muerta, Neuquén reached a new historical peak of oil production

The increase was mainly explained by the increase in production from the La Amarga Chica, Sierras Blancas, Aguada del Chañar and Coirón Amargo Sureste areas.

Regarding gas, Neuquén production in January was 81.24 million cubic meters per day, reaching an increase of 0.75 percent compared to December and 0.66% compared to January 2022.

The largest increases in production were registered in the areas of Sierra Chata, La Ribera Block I, La Calera and Loma La Lata-Sierra Barrosa.

In January, the participation of unconventional over the total oil produced was 91.17%while in gas 82% was unconventional.

The goal for the end of the year

The governor Omar Gutierrez highlighted the figure reached and pointed out that “The goal is to end this year with a daily production of 400,000 barrels of oil”while in gas it is expected that by 2023 it will exceed 100 million cubic meters per day.

In this sense, the president said that the province is very confident “in continuing with this continuous growth of Vaca Muerta, since this year companies have committed investments of 8,000 million dollarswhich marks another record in the short history of this group”.

Last week with the inauguration of the pipeline between Sierras Blancas (Neuquén) and Allen (Río Negro), in charge of a consortium of companies led by Shell, which will increase the capacity of oil transport from Vaca Muerta to refineries and export points .
