Tesla stock is up 70 percent year-to-date. Elon Musk has returned to the top of the Bloomberg billionaire list.
Thanks to a sharp rise in the price of Tesla shares this year, star entrepreneur Elon Musk has regained first place in the super-rich “Bloomberg Billionaires” ranking. With an estimated fortune of around 187 billion dollars (176 billion euros), the 51-year-old again passed Bernard Arnault, head of the luxury goods group LVMH. The 73-year-old Frenchman, who overtook Musk two and a half months ago, was most recently worth around $185 billion, according to the ranking.
Musk’s wealth has risen and fallen due to his large stake in the US electric car maker, with Tesla stock up nearly 70 percent year-to-date. Arnault was still ahead of Musk on Tuesday at Bloomberg rival “Forbes”. However, the lists are only based on estimates anyway. The Billionaires charts mostly use publicly available information on assets such as stocks, real estate, art objects and other luxury goods. The information is considered inaccurate and is sometimes disputed.
