Pensioners and workers have long since received relief payments for the high energy prices. After a long wait, there should now also be money for students and technical students. But patience is required.
Students and technical students who wanted to use the newly activated platform to apply for the energy price flat rate on Wednesday initially had to be patient. A few hours after it was started, the “Einmalpayment200.de” page set up for this purpose was not available for a short time and issued an error message.
Due to the large crowds, users later ended up in a digital waiting room. The federal and state governments had set up the site and, according to their own statements, previously tested it successfully with thousands of people affected.
On Wednesday morning there was obviously a lot of access at the same time. Around 3.5 million people are entitled to the 200 euros to cushion the increase in electricity and heating costs. Students and technical students who were enrolled at a university or in a technical school as of December 1, 2022 can apply for the payment. A domicile or “habitual abode” in Germany is required. At technical schools, for example, educators, technicians and business economists are trained. The energy price flat rate should neither be taxed nor offset against any social benefits.
