In recent months there have been repeated rumors that the editor-in-chief of “Bild” will be replaced. Now the publishing house is making a clear cut and is kicking out three editors-in-chief.
The media group Axel Springer is changing the editor-in-chief of “Bild”. This was first reported by the “Spiegel” and the industry portal “Medieninsider”. In the meantime, the publisher has also confirmed the personal details themselves.
The current editors-in-chief Johannes Boie, Alexandra Würzbach and Claus Strunz will resign from their previous roles. Marion Horn will take over as editor-in-chief with immediate effect. Until the end of 2019, she was already editor-in-chief of the separately working “Bild am Sonntag” and most recently worked as a consultant.
Personnel changes at “Bild”
In the past few months there had already been speculation about a reorganization at the top of “Bild” since Robert Schneider’s change as editor-in-chief from “Focus” to “Bild” became known. Even then, according to industry information, the trio of editors-in-chief was on the brink of collapse. Internally, however, there were protests. In particular, the dismissal of Alexandra Würzbach was viewed critically by the editorial team, since she temporarily stepped in as editor-in-chief during the investigation into the Julian Reichelt case. At the time, the publishing house reacted to the resistance in the editorial office and left Boie as editor-in-chief and also left the other two editors-in-chief untouched.
According to “media insider”, the three-man team around Boie only found out about the dismissal today and were no longer involved in internal communication. “Bild” managing director Claudius Senst took over the communication.
Rochade initially has no consequences for Robert Schneider: according to the publisher, he is to become editor-in-chief of “Bild” as planned in mid-April.
