In turn, wild waterfowl are an important reservoir of influenza A viruses, and poultry populations can become infected through contact with wild birds.

Measures to prevent the spread of bird flu

He SENASA prohibited holding exhibitions, fairs, events and recreational activities that involve concentration and movement of birds of domestic species (hens, roosters, chickens, turkeys, redfish, pheasants, quails, ducks and geese), for any reason and purpose. The agency asked the provincial wildlife authorities to find the necessary means to reduce the spread of the virus through wildlife, in those activities that favor the dispersal of birds and contact between wild birds and people, such as activities hunting of the most susceptible species in areas with a high concentration of poultry production farms.
